Artful Productions

Artful Productions was founded in 2011 and completed it's first feature film, The Crack, in 2013 which premiered at the 4th London International Labour Film Festival, 2014. It has worked with writer and producer Martin Stocks to develop his screenplay Humble Pie since 2013. Also in development are Gold Coast Showman, written by Irvine Welsh and Phil Vasili, about Victorian sporting celebrity Arthur Wharton and Felt and Batten, a parallel tale of a roofer and a refugee set during the Tottenham riots of 2011.

Artful Films

Artful Productions's sister company, Artful Films, was created in 2015 to develop Tull, a feature project about Walter Tull, a professional footballer for Spurs and Britain's first Black army officer and who died at the Second Battle of the Somme, March 25th 1918. Mark Foligno (Exec Producer, The Kings' Speech) is on board to produce.

About Us

Phil Vasili

Phil founded Artful Films and Artful Productions to produce feature film The Crack in 2013, which he wrote and directed. He wrote the screenplay for Tull based upon his biography Walter Tull, 1888-1918, Officer, Footballer. (Raw Press, 2009). His stage play Tull, had a very successful three week run at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, February-March 2013. He was executive producer on Antonio’s Breakfast which won the short film (drama) BAFTA 2006.

Mark Foligno

Mark has overseen more than a hundred and fifty film projects and was Executive Producer on The King's Speech and co-produced Moon. He is a seasoned producer of international feature films and is on board to produce Tull.

Irvine Welsh

Welsh's books have made him a cult figure within the writing world since the 1990s. The best-known being Trainspotting which as both as a book and a film (1996) was a box-office smash worldwide. Of his other works, three have been brought to screen, Filth (2014) Ecstasy (2012) and The Acid House (1998) Filth, in particular received international acclaim. Welsh is currently working with Danny Boyle on the the prequel to Trainspotting, Porno.

Welsh co-wrote feature screenplay Gold Coast Showman with Phil Vasili, which Artful Productions are now developing.

Martin Stocks

Comedy screenwriter and producer. Wrote feature screenplay Humble Pie, recently commended by BAFTA and a quarter finalist at The Blue Cat Screenplay Award and Screen Goldmine Competition. Created popular comedic blog How to Man-Manage Your Manager in a job you hate, now being animated as a web-series. Has written and produced numerous factual programmes for Sky TV, as well as short films. Worked with Phil Vasili adapting his novel Felt and Batten into a feature screenplay.

Richard Dickinson

Richard Dickinson is a leading technology professional and entrepreneur with over 13 years’ experience across a wide range of high-tech markets. He is co-founder and CEO of Short Films 4 U (SF4U) that is a next generation online film publishing and distribution business.

He is executive producer on Tull.

Peter Herbert

One of the UK's leading human rights barristers and campaigners. Awarded an O.B.E. In 2010 for his contribution to international human rights and equality and work as Chair of the Society of Black Lawyers. In 2012 the National Bar Association awarded Peter the Ronald Harmon Brown for "International distinction". Peter has appeared in stage productions at the Tricycle Theatre. Tull is his first film as executive producer. He is legal advisor to both companies.
